When I look at the federal government’s spending habits, I cannot help but wonder why the same financial discipline expected of families and businesses is not expected in Washington. As of 2026, the United States national debt has reached approximately $39 trillion, an increase of roughly $2.7 trillion in just the past year alone. That means the debt is growing by more than $7 billion every day.
Government waste only makes the situation worse. Taxpayer dollars are often lost to inefficient programs, cost overruns, and projects that fail to deliver meaningful results. Every wasted dollar contributes to a larger deficit and adds to the burden placed on future generations.
I am not arguing against funding essential services such as infrastructure, education, public safety, or national defense. However, accountability matters.
Fiscal responsibility is not a Republican issue or a Democrat issue. It is an American issue. Continuing to spend money carelessly is a crisis waiting to happen.
